I read "Mom blogs". Only the good ones. Not the ones where people think their children are the center of EVERYONE's Universe.
The topic this morning was crazy out of control birthday parties and how these sensible Moms made their kids birthdays special without having to get bank financing to do it.
It got me thinking about some of the birthday cakes I made when the kids were little, so I dug out a few pictures. Bear with me, it's the first time I've ever scanned photos into my computer. You can click on them to get a better view.
I did this one twice because after Cape Cod Kid's birthday, Sorority Girl wanted the same cake for her next birthday.

You are officially in charge of the birthday cake for my next party.
WOW. I'm impressed. My kids are excited when the uneven frosting doesn't slide of the cake!
Cute! I also make the homemade b-day cake--but the results aren't so pretty. They taste good, though, and support the candles which is the main objective:)
I stick with cupcakes because there's no way I could pull off one of those creations. When we need a cake I let the kids decorate it so I have an excuse as to why it doesn't look like a magazine picture.
