Has This Ever Happened To You?

Have you ever accepted a promotion at work? Did your brains hurt?

It happened to me this week. I finished the first half of my training. I was in the medical field from 1976 to 2006. My brain cells have always been wired for understanding medical/health issues. This week I spent 27 hours studying Role Clarity, Business Insight, Action Plans and Performance Reporting. Next week will be a repeat of this week.

Have you ever had a house guest with Sleep Apnea? Did YOU get any sleep?

My Mom has had sleep apnea for 12 years. She refuses to be treated for it. She tried the CPAP machine and it gave her high anxiety, so she ditched it. She will snore for about 15 minutes, then be silent for 10-30 seconds, then GASP! GASP! CHOKE! then go back to the 15 minutes of snoring. I find myself laying awake, counting the seconds until she starts snoring again. I think our friend (who was an RN) and I convinced her to get another sleep study done.

Have you ever seen a family of little piggies? Have you ever seen a family of little piggies running along the side of a major interstate highway? Did you laugh out loud?

I was about 12 miles south of Tampa today on Route 75 when I thought I saw a group of small dogs running alonside the road. When I got closer I realized it was a Mama, Papa and three baby piggies. They were so cute that I started laughing. Then I smacked my forehead and said "WHERE IS MY CAMERA AT TIMES LIKE THIS??"

Have you ever met a fellow blogger, in person? I did, the last time Bossy came to town. I met 5 other bloggers that night. We laughed a lot that night.

Tomorrow, I'm meeting another blogger, who has come with her Michigan family to visit her Florida family. I'M BRINGING MY CAMERA!

Like/Not Like/Don't Care

Blackbird started it. Badger ran with it. I'm giving it a stab.

10 things I like:
  • Sparkly clean store from 2 after-closing sessions of deep cleaning
  • Home-brewed french vanilla iced coffee
  • Planning my Mom's 75th surprise birthday bash
  • So You Think You Can Dance
  • Going to Atlanta next week to see Mr SS's sister and her husband and my 2 delicious nephews.
  • My craigslist $75 clothes dryer
  • Crepe Myrtle in bloom
  • Celtic Thunder
  • Facebook
  • The necklace I received as a gift from The Women's Colony

8 things I don't like:

  • The brand new 5 inch wrinkle running across my forehead
  • Half-assed menopause that won't commit to getting the job done
  • People who break my daughter's heart
  • The BLACK SNAKE that is living in the foliage outside my bedroom window
  • Spring+Long-haired cat=fur sticking to the ceiling
  • My toes. I'm holding out on getting a pedicure until next week
  • The price of gas
  • Non-restful sleep

5 things I don't care about

  • Jon and Kate trainwreck
  • Sarah Jessica Parker's twins
  • All My Children stupid summer storylines
  • The heat. I'm not bothered by 100 degrees.
  • The fact that I can't think of 10 things I don't care about

More Devil Dog....and a FLOOD

Devil Dog upstairs continues to bark whenever his owners go away and leave him locked in the bedroom. He has NEVER barked when they are home. Until tonight.

I was reading the comments in Miss Britt's blog www.miss-britt.com
She is some kind of funny girl and she wears FABULOUS shoes (I saw the pink ones in person at the Bossy Lovefest.)
And I laughed so LOUD and BOISTEROUS that I made Devil Dog bark!!!!!!!
Hahahahahahaha

Oh, and Devil Dog's owners had some type of plumbing issue last night and called Rotorooters and whatever they did to the pressure in the pipes, made some pipe in our Laundry Room start leaking like Niagara Falls. It took every bath towel and beach towel and paper towel in our apartment to sop up the mess.

And just for more shits and giggles, my nephew was snowboarding in NH yesterday and fell and shattered his right shoulder in 2 places and and also broke his collarbone. Last I heard, he was in a lot of pain and my sister was waiting to see if he will need surgery.

And Mom has some kind of inflamed artery feeding her right eye. It was causing her to have a non-stop headache. If this is untreated it can cause permanent blindness.

And Sorority Girl got a flat tire. The Frat Boys came to her rescue and put on the little donut tire. (but not Frat Boyfriend- he was on the golf course. He's going to make a damn fine husband, someday)
Bank of Mom and Dad had to make a $79 withdrawal to fix that puppy.

I'm just a tiny stressed-out. But it's OK. I'm medicating myself with a 2 Lb bag of Jellybeans.

BOSSY- More and Less

This is Bossy. I have less pictures than I hoped for. I need a new camera.

I met Bossy the other night. She was more and less than what I thought she would be.
I LOVE
www.iambossy.com. More than ice cream but less than Peanut M&M’s. I think the second time I read her blog I thought to myself, “When I grow up I want to be Bossy”.

Here’s the scenario. TGIFriday’s on a Friday night. I am sitting across the table from Bossy. I knew she was pretty from her pictures, but in person she is more beautiful. I thought she would be loud and boisterous, but she is less talkative and quieter than I expected. It’s more like she has thought out what she will say. Less like me, who has no editor between the brain and the mouth.

To my left is Miss Britt. She is a Chatty Cathy like me. Then Amy, who is Adam’s wife. Then Adam, who is Britt’s boss. Then Angie who is a cool Mom/teacher. On the other side of Bossy is Karl, who drove a long way to get there, then Maggie of the famous Wreck This Journal. Then Emily, another sweet Mom/teacher who got stuck next to the two Chatty Cathys.
There were Fried Green Beans, Red wine and Blue Ultimate Electric Lemonade, many pictures were taken.
It was too noisy to hear ourselves so Adam and Amy invited us to their super-cool house where we sat and talked until midnight. I had FINALLY been invited to sit at the table with the COOL PEOPLE. I am a blogger wannabe compared to them. I wish I had taken notes.

I hope it accomplished what Bossy hoped it would. She wanted it to be less like “Come and worship at the table of BOSSY” and more like “You Bloggers out there are ALL cool people and I think you should get to know each other in real life”.
If you are within driving distance from a Bossy Road Trip stop, I strongly urge you to go.
She brings cool people together. She gives the warmest HUGS.

90 Minutes to Bossy!!

Tigger is beside himself with excitement!
My hair has been curled!

My nails have been professionally manicured (does this color make my hands look fat?)
I haven't made a definate decision on my outfit....go cute in a turquoise shirtdress or comfortable in pants and a t-shirt?
There are fresh batteries in the camera.
It's almost BOSSY TIME!!

I'm Thankful For The Blog Writers

It started with Mrs Pomegranate. I don't remember how I got there. But I love how her writing is like poetry.

Then came blackbird with her tales of life with K, Oldest,Middle,Youngest and the Dog (who is rarely spoken about). Her picture captions are the BEST.

She got me reading Alice in Ct. She usually brings out the Mom in me and I just want to hug her.
Badger and Bossy make me laugh out loud. Sometimes I snort!
Sam over at Sunday School Rebel seems really sweet and her baby is a little cutie pie muffin.
The Heathen Housewife is double the fun....cute little girls and knitting!
Ms Glaze's Pommes d'Amour is a new find. French food and recipes and the pictures are yummy too.
Public Musings of a Mama is also a new one on my list but I find her enjoyable.

Thank You All for the pleasure of reading your blogs.
Happy Thanksgiving.
