O Say Can I See?

If you are my facebook friend you saw this update Thursday night...

New progressive Bifocals. I'll be fine as long as I never move my head again.

The problem with being 54 is that your EYES are also 54. I have been making do with reading glasses for 10 years. I own about 8 pairs because I lose them and find them and lose them and find them.
Lately I have been having a lot of headaches and teary eyes. When I read for a long time, then took off the glasses my distance vision was fuzzy for about an hour.

Off to the discount eye place. I got my prescription and went out to pick my frames. I tried on about 10 pairs and decided on the cutest black rectangles with a few lines of bling on the earpieces. They were also the most comfortable pair.

I handed them to the clerk, she looked at my prescription and said "that will come to $600" and Mr Sunshine said "NO &%$#ing WAY!"

I sent the following text message to Sorority Girl...

In my blindness I picked out Vera Wang frames. They were so pretty.

She replied...

Duh!! Vera Wang!

The clerk said if I pick out frames from the WALL OF UGLY GLASSES that I could get 2 pairs for about $245.  Four hours later I walked out with semi-ugly brown frames. I'm getting used to finding the sweet spot for reading and where to situate my laptop.

But I would have looked much cuter with the Vera Wang glasses.

I've been wearing progressives for many years...you'll get used to them, just remember to point your nose at what you want to see.

I've worn progressives since my late 30's - and my 54th birthday is in a month. It's the way you've go to go....

Look around and you may find progressives cheap someplace. Sears is running a special on them

I went through the same sticker shock when I got my prgressives last year. However, they were running a special where I got another complete pair for free. So I got the pretty ones.

They said walking stairs would take some getting used to. I found that to be fine, it was pushing the vacuum cleaner that gave me vertigo. So I just stopped vacuuming.

LOL! Vera Wang glasses - ouch!

I hope your eye situation improves. You have to be able to read!

Good Lord, the price of seeing is high! I have progressives, too, it did not take me long to get used to them.

Did you try Costco? I have totally adorable progressive lenses (they are actually from Beyonce's line if you can believe that). Also, there are websites you can order from. You can even upload a pic and try on different frames.
