Almost every month I check out the calendar that lists some offbeat and traditional holidays.
The first week of May is ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION AWARENESS WEEK.
Week? I'm aware and celebrate that one every day! Thank the gods of pharmaceuticals for my daily dose. Amen.
For those of us that tend to be chronically grumpy, did you know that May 4th is THE GREAT AMERICAN GRUMP OUT? I found this on the website http://www.smilemania.com/
The 10th annual
GREAT AMERICAN GRUMP OUT
Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
The Grump Out asks all you sour pusses to suck it up and refrain from getting your grump on -- at least for 24 hours.
That includes no grumping, no frowning, no grousing, complaining, punching, slapping, hitting or killing. FOR ONE WHOLE DAY.
I guess I'll celebrate that one by remembering my daily dose of anti-grump meds.I had 2 cups of Dunkin Donuts coffee with breakfast.Taking a walk helps. Seeing the 6 new baby ducks in the pond made me smile. So does smelling the giant Magnolia blossoms in the trees. And a sugar-free Fudgsicle. I'll watch my DVR'd episodes of Bethenny Ever After.
I will not think about how much I'm craving a Hostess Cupcake. I will not stare at my camera and cry (I dropped it. With the zoom lens fully extended. *sigh*). I will not shake my head at my hideous toes that need a manicure.
Dammit, I WILL smile and set aside my grumpiness.
Just for today. Tomorrow it's back to being my grumpy old self.

I wish I'd known about this holiday earlier in the day -- I would have emailed your blog post to some people I know.
OMG. Yesterday I was totally and completely grumpy. On the blog I called myself "Grumpalufugus" AND I ate a Hostess Cupcake.
Weird.
The way you keep your chin up inspires me!
Good thing you have a pedicure coming in your near future :)
Of course there shouldn't be grumpiness on May 4th, that's my birthday!
you got a camera for mothers day and since mr sunshine is playing golf every chance he gets I think a pedicure can be worked out.... Happy Mothers day and smile once in a while...
Sorry I missed it - and so is The Saint!!
