CostcOMG!

I went to Costco today.

I get my prescriptions there because, without health insurance, it's the cheapest place to get my VERY IMPORTANT Anti-depressant and Mr Sunshine's blood pressure pill. I LOVE the look on the faces of people in line when the cashier says "That will be $278 please".

They should issue elderly people a GPS when they go in. I heard at least 4 elderly people on their cell phones, saying "Where are you?", "Stay in that aisle and I'll come to you", "I CAN'T FIND YOU", "I thought you were going to the pharmacy!!"

It is SOOOOO hard for me to resist the 5 pound bag of Peanut Crack&M's. I did resist. I was proud of myself.

All that pride in my willpower went down the crapper when I bought the BIG ASS Pumpkin Pie. Honest to Betty Crocker....it's the size of a car hubcap and it was only $5.99! I also bought the 2 pound bag of Cape Cod Chips. (Imagine I'm hanging my head in shame)

I bought a 4-pack of toilet bowl cleaner. With only one bathroom in this new place, that should last me until 2010.

I was parked next to a BIG ASS Lexus SUV. The license plate holder said "I'd rather be shopping at Nordstrom"

REALLY? Not K-Mart? How about the Dollar Store? Goodwill?

And this is why I had to not renew my Costco membership. Huge amounts of things I didn't need but at such a great price, who could resist! The books and movies always sucked me in too. I had to ban that store from my life....at least for now!

Alas, no Costco in my town but a Sam$, where I went Thursday and walked out with 14 rolls of PT, 36 rolls of TP, three bottles of bathroom cleaner, three bottles of dish detergent, a HUGE bottle flax seed oil capsules (1000? 2000?), and that's just the start. With just two of us, we will be set for a while, as well.

HA! Dude! We have both Costco and Sam's Club here, and used to belong to both when the kids were little (because where ELSE are you going to buy 100 fruit roll-ups for $5?) but we had let our memberships lapse. However, we all take enough meds between us now, both prescription and OTC, that we decided to re-join Sam's (it's closer to our house than Costco).

I bought the membership on Friday and the store was SO CRAZY with people that I didn't even shop, just took my membership card and left. I'll go back and explore some weekend morning when it's just me and the old people. At least the aisles are wide at Sam's/Costco!

$278 for 2 Rx?! Crazy! I go to costco once a year when they send me a free 60 day membership, stock up and wait until next year.

I will admit that I bought three bags of regular Halloween M&Ms yesterday. Supposedly, because I'm going to make M&M cookies for my girls, but one of those bags just magically opened and spilled into my hands last night...

My jaw dropped at that total. Gee whiz!
I'm laughing at the idea of all those old people wandering around the store looking for each other.

Funny you should mention Costco prescriptions...here's a link to a friend's blog; she featured MY Costco pharmacy story last week on her bargain hunter blog!

Your description of the wandering old people was hilarious! And I think my jaw would drop too if I heard that prescription price. Although, being Canadian, I don't think I've ever heard a pharmacist ask for money. Hmm ...

I can't go to Costco because I end up with enormous bags of chocolate in my cart. I don't know how they get there, really! They have a mind of their own.

You have to pay $278 on prescriptions? Holy crap. That's insane!
